We Arrived!

After a long journey we arrived at our home in Provence! Secluded in the mountains in St. Saturnin les Apt, we are amidst iconic Provencal beauty. Lavander and Olive Trees line the yard, while a delicious swimming pool sits in the center. We ate dinner: tomatoes and mozarella, roasted chicken, an erray of quiches, salad and fresh bread. Tomorrow we will begin French classes, have an overview of our arts workshops, a walk into town, and an evening film, "Les Triplettes de Belleville". These kids are great! Honestly, an awesome group. They are happy and playful with one another, help each other out, and are all so thrilled to be here. I can't wait to see what we create together! I will keep you posted.
a bientot!

  1. Well, you certainly look like a happy crew, jumping for joy, and tres patriotic in so much blue, white and red. Fondation Barat seems to be slipping further and further west into the Luberon. I tried Google satellite to find a piscine with splayed white rock in the grass around it, but satelite resolution in the paysage isn't fine enough. I have learned that you're in one of the early green villages, with two convertors of wind energy dating back 300+ years. Sun, swiming, fresh food, fresh air, lavander and olive, walking and a film, and just day one. Yesterday, I was telling a local street gypsy jazz guitarist to check out the theme song from "Les Triplets de Belleville" (he was looking for something in french to suit his style).

I'm off to Arles on the 4th. This year the Rencontres d'Arles hired me to do portfolio reviews (at 100 Euros a day, which will cover my food, drinks and hotel for each day I do it). This year's quite a big deal as it's the 40th anniversary. Nan Goldin is guest curator of a pretty edgy program (you should be able to check it out on the site). I'll stay until the 15th. Any plans to bring in the group? If so, let me know before I leave.

    Have a terrific program.
